I am, along with members of our church, going through the "Prayers of Biblical Hope...Seek God for the City - 2010". This is a booklet of "Forty Days to Palm Sunday" daily prayers to help us to focus, pray and proclaim hope for our city and surrounding area.
Today is the third day of this prayer walk. Most of you know the cry of my heart for women. So today, when I opened up the prayer journal and it said: "Seek God on Behalf of Women", you can understand why my very core is awakened, shaken, stirred, and alert in every way. Again, I thought about the unifying strength and power as we pray together.
Can we today, join hands and hearts and pray for women. Women in our city, women every where...That healing, hope and restoration be unleashed in the heavenlies over women!
This is how the prayer journal words it:
""This woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity which she continually did." Acts. 9:36
That women will be honored in their unique glory as those created by God; that injustice of every kind toward women will cease; for protection from sexual violence; that hope would be renewed for the beauty of marriage and children; that single women lay hold of the hope of great joy and purpose for God's glory.
PRAYERWALK: Without necessarily being demonstrative, pray prayers of blessing for some of the women you come in contact with today."
Seriously, think of the power of God being unleashed on these women, as we join together in prayer today. I do not know how this will affect you, but I know the power of prayer, and I know as we join together today, that
sickness of every kind, invading women, will feel the jolt of the power of God.
I know that as we pray together prison bars of hopelessness, despair, drug addiction, abuse, misuse, loneliness, depression, suicide, and untimely death will be shaken with the same power that rattled open the doors of the prison that kept Peter.
I know that lifelessness, apathy, neglect, spiritual blindness, and hindrances will see the glory of His light revealed in a new way.
I know that the power of God will reach out to each woman we pray for.
We may not know how, when, or where. We may not even know specific names or circumstances of some. However, truth is truth:
"The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects." James 5:16
We can expect the miraculous. The lives of women we pray for will be effected for the glory of the kingdom!
Today, please join with me in prayer for the women of your city.
We often read stories of the answered prayers of revival flames in cities, legislative changes, and historical events attributed to joint prayer. Believe with me for history notes that will be recorded of the future because of the prayer today.
